Do you like a dinner that cooks itself? This is almost it! This recipe takes less than 5 minutes to prepare and is great, even for company. You still have to allow for cooking time. We have used homemade sauce, organic sauce that was $10 a jar…but I sure didn’t pay that! It was on sale! My favorite does have to be the Tuscan type sauce. It was delightful.
Once again, I am giving you more of the basics and not an exact recipe, a general guide. Most recipes are for me because if it’s written, I still have to make changes to suite me. If you have never cooked without following a recipe, this is a good one to experiment with. Use your own judgement. You know what flavors you like. Just go for it!
Chicken Breasts, boneless & skinless (Optional* use thick center cut, boneless pork chops)
Salt & Pepper
Spaghetti sauce (use the jar or homemade, just not a very thin sauce)
Cheese – I have used Asiago, Parmesan and Provolone. Use a combination or your favorite
Fresh chopped Basil – if you like
Preheat oven to 350°F
Line a baking sheet with foil or spray a dish with non-stick spray.
Top with chicken. Salt and pepper to taste.
Being very liberal with your spaghetti sauce, pour over the chicken. You want a thick layer. Bake uncovered until the chicken is done. The time will depend on the thickness and size of your chicken pieces.
When the chicken is cooked, top with cheese and put back in the oven until the cheese melts. Remove from oven and garnish with basil.
